For the last encounter between the sides we go back to December of last year, when The New Saints FC visited Maes Tegid in the JD Welsh Premier League. The visitors got off to a great start as a Blaine Hudson header put the reigning champions in the driving seat in the 11th minute.
However, the turning point in the game proved to be the dismissal of Chris Marriott, who received a straight red for a challenge just past the one-third stage.
The one-man advantage inspired the Lakesiders and they were back in it on 66 minutes with a header of their own, as Steven Tames hauled Bala Town back into the game.
Although the home team had the initiative, both had chances to wrap the game up with the best of those falling to The New Saints who were awarded a penalty with 71 minutes gone. However, Dean Ebbe’s effort was saved by Ashley Morris, and that’s how it ended at the final whistle.
The table at that time saw Scott Ruscoe’s in third place, five points behind Connah’s Quay and four adrift of Barry Town United.
