Another Trophy-Winning Achievement As TNS Futsal Lift The FAW Futsal Cup

While the senior men’s first team secured an eighth consecutive JD Welsh Premier League title in south Wales, a day later just along the coast, TNS Futsal team were also celebrating success. Craig Morse brings us the details.

TNS Futsal dominated their semi-final against Caerau Ely with a 10 – 2 victory.  The goals were shared around the team but the main threat came from Mathew Worrall whose feet were too good for the opposition.

TNS kept the ball well and didn’t give the opposition many chances to get back into the game.

Goal scorers – Mathew Worrall 3, Mikey Wright 2, Cory Smart 1, Josh Griffiths 1, Tristan Wagner 1, Kev Hope 1, Mikey Latham 1.

Onto the final against Cardiff University Futsal and a blistering start saw TNS go 3 – 0 up in the first 12 minutes. Mathew Worrall was the main man again, grabbing himself a hat-trick in the game. It was a very special 3rd goal though for TNS, from Josh Griffiths, who sent a rocket into the top corner.

Cardiff went fly keeper after going 3 – 0 down, but they conceded a 4th shortly after this. They did give themselves a glimmer of hope with a deflected goal. The half score, however, was 4 – 1 to TNS.

Our opponents started the 2nd half again with a fly keeper and pressed to get back into the game. Steve Evans, however, rolled back the years and commanded the team with a superb defensive stance.

Cardiff scored 2 goals to give themselves hope but while they were open at the back, Mathew Worrall completed his hat-trick. which was just enough to see us over the line with a 6 – 4 win.

Goal scorers – Mathew Worrall 3, Josh Griffiths 2, Kev Hope.

Everyone at The New Saints Football Club sends our congratulations to TNS Futsal on the incredible achievement, and we wish them all the very best, as like the first team, they also prepare for European adventures.
