Having secured an eighth consecutive JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) title, the trophy itself will be presented to the champions following the game at Park Hall on Saturday, April 20, 2019.
The New Saints FC secured the title last Saturday evening at Jenner Park, with an impressive performance against Barry Town United, that ended in a 4-0 victory. Seven points clear of second-placed Connah’s Quay Nomads – with just two games to go, including Caernarfon Town – means that it is eight consecutive JD WPL titles for TNS.
The Canaries are enjoying life back in the top flight and currently sit in fourth place in the league. Although they are twenty-two points behind The New Saints and have a plus goal difference of 1 compared to the champions’ 80, nevertheless everyone associated with Caernarfon will be no doubt be happy with the state of play, as they look to establish themselves among the Welsh Premier League elite.
Having undergone a managerial change of late, with Allan Bickerstaff taking over from Sean Eardley in the hot seat, with Sean moving to the assistant role, Caernarfon Town have enjoyed back-to-back home wins in the JD WPL. A 1-0 victory against Connah’s Quay Nomads – that did The New Saints a massive favour in pursuit of the title – was followed by a 4-1 defeat of Newtown AFC.
The New Saints will be in the familiar green and white hooped shirts with white shorts and socks. The goalkeeper will be wearing all black.
Caernarfon Town will be in their away kit of claret shirts, shorts and socks with the goalkeeper in all blue.
The officials are as follows: Bryn Markham Jones (referee), John Bryant & Aaron Wyn Jones (assistants) and Cheryl Foster (4th official).
The evening game has a 7.30 p.m. kick-off time and will be featured live on S4C’s Sgorio. If you are visiting Park Hall for the first time, more information can be found here.
