In the final game of the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) season, although there’s nothing at stake in the sense that both The New Saints FC and Connah’s Quay Nomads have finished first and second respectively, nevertheless there’s still a lot to play for.
Professional pride, rivalry, and of course the game being a dress rehearsal for the JD Welsh Cup final the following weekend, means that both sides will be looking to see 2018/2019 out on a high.
With the Nomads top of the table for much of the season, the final game sees The New Saints leading the way by nine points. The former have dropped points, of course, in recent weeks, but the latter is currently enjoying a superb run of form.
Having scored 98 goals so far this season in the league alone, while conceding just 16, the goal difference of 82 is greater than all the other clubs with a positive figure combined (Connah’s Quay Nomads 44, Cardiff Metropolitan University FC 12, Barry Town United 5).
The New Saints will be in green and white hooped shirts, white shorts and socks while the goalkeeper will be wearing all black.
The officials are as follows: Dean John (referee), Aaron Wyn Jones and Conner Fowler (assistants) and Rob Jenkins (4th official).
The game, at Park Hall on Friday, April 26, has a kick-off time of 7.45 p.m. and there is more general information for travelling supporters here: Fans’ Guide To Park Hall.
