A Visit To The Capital Up Next For The JD Cymru Premier League Leaders

With three points from the home game against Newtown AFC seeing TNS head to the top of the table, it’s a trip to the capital next for the league leaders.

On Monday, September 16, Cyncoed campus hosts the MD6 game between Cardiff Metropolitan University FC and The New Saints FC. The third versus first clash promises to be an exciting encounter, with the Students one of three sides currently enjoying an unbeaten start to the season.

Following on from an opening weekend’s 1-1 draw at Connah’s Quay Nomads, a run of three consecutive wins came to an end with a 2-2 at Richmond Park against Carmarthen Town. With eight goals scored and four conceded, Christian Edwards’ side find themselves in joint third place as far as goal difference is concerned, behind The New Saints (10) and Bala Town (7).

The reigning champions go into the game with three JD Cymru Premier wins on the bounce to their name. Victories at home to Pen-y-bont (2-1) and Newtown AFC (2-1) and an emphatic win at Aberystwyth Town (10-1) ensure that Scott Ruscoe’s side currently have the lead at the top of the table

It’s tight though, as there are just three points separating five sides. With Bala Town, Barry Town United and Connah’s Quay Nomads all in action prior to TNS’ game, all three can leapfrog the Saints, although the latter have a goal difference of eight to overcome.

The game at Cyncoed is a Sgorio Facebook Live fixture. You can also listen to commentary via TNS Radio, here on our website. Kick-off is 8.00 p.m. For those wishing to travel to the game, contact wayne.greenshields@tnsfcfoundation.org.uk for supporters’ club details. Admission prices can be found here.
