The last time that the sides encountered each other was in Bangor City’s last season in top flight Welsh football, as the then VSM Stadium played host to the game on March 31, 2018.
Although The New Saints – on their way to a seventh consecutive league title – created plenty of chances, superb goalkeeping from Matthew Hall denied the visitors.
It was a goal from Dean Rittenberg, in the tenth minute, that proved to be all that separated the sides come the final whistle. An initial save by Paul Harrison from Lawrence Wilson, saw the ball tucked away from close range, as Bangor City collected all three points in a season that saw them finish in second place behind The New Saints.
One of the bright spots for the visitors was Chris Craven’s first team debut. Currently on loan at FC Oswestry Town, the youngster has continued to impress and is still very much part of the current wider plan at Park Hall.
On the other side of the coin, three players in the starting line-up that day are no longer part of the set-up, with Tom Holland, Kevin Kauber and Connell Rawlinson all playing their football elsewhere.
