On Tuesday (September 24, 2019) it’s a journey to the north Wales coast for Scott Ruscoe’s side, with Bangor City the opponent in the Nathaniel MG Cup (Welsh League Cup).
The round two game at the EuroGold Stadium is the first meeting of the teams since The Citizens lost their place in the JD Cymru Premier at the end of the 2017/2018 season. Now playing their football in the second tier of Welsh football – the regionalised JD Cymru North – Bangor suffered their first league defeat of the season last weekend, going down 3-2 at home to Llandudno FC.
Stephen Vaughan Jr’s side have been in the final of the Welsh League Cup on six occasions, since its inception in 1992/1993. All of those appearances have ended in defeat, including the 2008/2009 2-0 reversal against The New Saints. This was the last time the north Walians reached a final in the competition.
Although not updated for a while, there is a visitors’ guide to the stadium on the Bangor City website. In addition, if you’re a Saints’ fan who would like to be at the game then we are running a supporters’ bus. It leaves The Venue at 5.00 p.m. and will pick up on the way. If the scores are level after ninety minutes, it will go directly to a penalty shootout.
