As We Take On Airbus UK Broughton In Flintshire, We Remember The Last Time We Met

The New Saints FC 6 Airbus UK Broughton 2

JD Cymru Premier

Park Hall Stadium

October 12, 2019

With back-to-back 1-0 defeats against Barry Town United and Caernarfon Town, the reigning JD Cymru Premier champions avoided an unwanted hat-trick by beating Airbus UK Broughton 6-2 at Park Hall.

It was anything but unlucky for Dean Ebbe though, when the Irish striker opened the scoring in the 13th minute. On the end of a Billy Whitehouse cross, the deadlock was broken with a header on the edge of the six-yard box.

Five minutes later, Greg Draper found the net, as The New Saints doubled the lead. A shot through a crowded penalty area went in off the post, as the New Zealand international opened his account for the afternoon.

By the time the whistle had sounded for the break, Draper had completed a hat-trick, courtesy of a penalty and a well-executed goal in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Just five minutes into the second period, a Draper header saw him hit four on the day, as The New Saints took a 5-0 lead.

Hopes of ending the ten-game run without a clean sheet were dashed though, as the visitors scored twice in the final quarter of an hour. In between, a Kurtis Byrne effort that rattled the crossbar fell kindly to Chris Marriott, who tapped home the rebound.

The game this coming Saturday (November 30, 2019) at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium is JD Cymru Premier MD16. Kick-off is 2.30 p.m.
