Match Preview, As We Welcome Carmarthen Town To Park Hall

It’s back to JD Cymru Premier action for The New Saints FC tomorrow (Tuesday, December 3), when Carmarthen Town visit Park Hall. The MD14 game is the one that was cancelled a few weeks back, when snow was the winner on that occasion, with the Park Hall pitch unplayable.

Although the weather forecast this time round is one that encourages fans to wrap up well – with lows of 3-4C during the game – it should be a dry evening and so no potential issues on that front.

The incentive for The New Saints is clear – win and go to the top of the table. Coincidentally, the last time that the reigning champions were leading the way was back in September, when a 6-2 victory against tomorrow’s opponent, at Richmond Park, witnessed a brief spell at the head.

Back then, Barry Town United were the in-form side and they quickly retained pole position the next day, beating Cefn Druids 1-0. However, having picked up just three points in the last five games, Gavin Chesterfield’s side has slipped in the race for the title, although they do sit in fourth place, with just two points between them and The New Saints.

Connah’s Quay Nomads, the current leaders, are two points in front of TNS. The Nomads are still unbeaten so far this season, although with seven draws from their sixteen games, they haven’t been able to build as extensive a lead as they would have hoped for.

Carmarthen currently sit bottom of the table but the incentive for The Old Gold is that a win would take them above Airbus UK Broughton and Penybont FC and out of the relegation places.

The New Saints will be in the familiar green and white home kit, while the goalkeeper will be wearing all blue.

The officials for the game are as follows: Cheryl Foster (referee), Ashley Davis and James Sheils (assistant referees) and Nick Pratt (fourth official).

Kick-off is 7.45 p.m. and if you’re a first-time visitor especially, check out our fans’ guide to Park Hall. You can follow the action via our Twitter account as well as listening to TNS Radio. The link to the latter is on the home page of our website.
