After a weekend of JD Welsh Cup action, it’s back to the bread and butter of the JD Cymru Premier for both sides this coming Friday (December 13), when Barry Town United host The New Saints FC on MD17.
The Linnets currently occupy fourth place, five points behind Scott Ruscoe’s side, who lead the way at the top of the table. The recent 1-0 win for The New Saints, against Carmarthen Town, saw the side leapfrog Connah’s Quay Nomads and take pole position at the halfway stage of the season.
Barry Town United’s current form is not something that they will want reminding of, with Gavin Chesterfield’s side losing five on the bounce in all competitions. Their last win, on MD12 in the JD Cymru Premier, was against Airbus UK Broughton, on October 26.
On the other hand, The New Saints FC is enjoying a rich vein of form. Not only in terms of statistics (thirteen points from the last five JD Cymru Premier games) but also the manner of the results along the way. With forty-nine league goals scored so far in 2019/2020, the side is well ahead of Bala Town (35) and Connah’s Quay Nomads (28).
Although there was a period earlier in the season that saw the team go twelve games without a clean sheet, the ship has been more than steadied in recent weeks. With five clean sheets from the last six games, in all competitions, it means that the defence has conceded just one goal in 540 minutes.
The New Saints will be in green and white shirts / white shorts / white socks, while the goalkeeper will be in all-black.
The officials are as follows: Bryn Markham-Jones (referee), Lewiss Edwards and Ashley Davis (assistant referees) and Richard Harrington (fourth official).
The match at Jenner Park has a kick-off time of 8.00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on S4C. In addition, you can follow the game via our Twitter account, as well as commentary on TNS Radio, with the link to the latter here on the home page of our website.
