Although not quite business as usual, nevertheless the work of The New Saints FC Academy is continuing. Here’s an update from the coaches…
While the Academy has begun its online work, and the players are still receiving their three important sessions per week at this troubling time, we at The New Saints would like to give you a sneak peek at what they’re up to and view some of work and the challenges they’ve been given.
The week 1 topic focused on Mastering the ball + Attacking moves across all age groups, with one of the moves focusing on our very own Ryan Brobbel’s famous rollover!
It’s good to see our Academy players gaining success from the work we do and implementing them in to match situations like our U-10 player, Louis McPartland!
It’s moments like these that fill us coaches with pride and is the reason we have put so much effort in to the online programme. We will be constantly monitoring, evaluating and challenging each individual along the way!
As the main focus this week was Attacking + Facing moves we thought it fitting to name our first Foundation phase challenge after the man himself. We had a few progressions to this initial challenge, such as using the insides and outside of the foot, for the players really getting stuck in to their work at home!
In addition, to keep the older players occupied after their home sessions, our very own Simon Smith (U-19s manager) gave them all a challenge of his own, The ‘keepy uppy’ bin challenge!
Keep an eye out over the upcoming weekend for a montage of our best Academy Attacking moves and challenges from the week and await our Week 2 Passing + Receiving tips featuring the Danny Redmond challenge! Please also share your home footage with us online! If you post on Twitter, tag us in at @tnsfc.
Stay safe and healthy…. but with a ball at your feet!
