Taking a convincing 5-0 lead into the break, Simon Smith’s team talk at half-time was a happy one, as he praised his side for both the goals and the positive performance.

Although there were three more goals during the second period – with one going the way of  Sandwell College – it was the visitors who were the happiest come the final whistle. The 7-1 victory ensured three comfortable points in the colleges’ league and a happy mini-bus journey back to Park Hall for driver, John Lumley, Simon and the players.

The New Saints’ squad was as follows:  Rob Johnson, Oliver Mitchell Gough, Josh Grant, Ryan Dacey, James Blackman, Alex Cadman, Regan Jones, Ryan Smith, Malachai Balogun, CJ Nwaki, Jeanny Leblanc-Akpo, Charlie Rhead and Alex Szabo.

Well done to Regan Jones on his hat-trick, with Ryan Smith grabbing himself a brace. Jeanny Leblanc-Akpo and Alex Cadman found the net once each, with the latter earning himself a well-deserved Man Of The Match award.

Following the game, we chatted with Simon Smith and you can watch that interview below. It also includes a mention of upcoming trials for the scholarship programme.
