In an evenly-matched game between two sides, it was the champions of Wales that broke the deadlock on twenty minutes, when a Robbie Parry free-kick was met by an incoming Aeron Edwards on the far post who got his head to the ball to give Neil Alexander no chance. 1-0
Chances fell to both sides in the first period but as the teams went into the break it was just the one goal that divided them.
The equaliser for the Lions came in the 65th minute as substitute Dylan Mackin’s flicked header at the near post beat Paul Harrison. 1-1
Prior to that a free-kick found Gallagher at the back post but his header was just off target and Mullin’s drive went just wide of Harrison’s post.
With thirty minutes of extra time failing to separate the teams, it went down to the dreaded penalty shoot-out. Using the ABBA system, the sequence was as follows:
Mackin saved 0-0
Mullan scores 1-0
Draper scores 2-0
Todorov scores 2-1
