May half-term sees The New Saints FC Foundation delivering an exciting programme of youth and activities for children across Oswestry and surrounding areas. Starting on bank holiday Monday, the team will be on Gobowen Playing Fields offering a wide range of free activities, suitable for all ages – ranging from ‘Kanjam’ to space hopper racing, tug of war to soft tennis, as well as the ever popular football skills and traditional children’s games. The activities run from 11am to 2pm, and include the provision of a free healthy lunch for all participants.
On Tuesday 28th May, we offer a chance for aspiring young footballers to spend the day with us experiencing what it’s like to be a professional footballer – for just £15 children aged 7 – 11 years can join us to develop their football skills, have a full stadium tour, play on the first team 3G football pitch, enjoy a healthy lunch, meet a professional footballer, and learn about healthy eating, keeping fit, etc.
Also on Tuesday the team will be out and about in Whittington offering free activities for 4 – 14 year olds on the school playing field between 1pm and 3pm. The team will be supported by members of Whittington Youth, who have worked with the team to promote and organise the day.
Wednesday 29th May sees the Foundation team on the playing fields in St Martins – again offering a wide range of free activities, suitable for all ages between 11am and 2pm including a free healthy lunch. The team then moves on to Cae Glas Park, Oswestry to offer 2 hours of children’s and youth activities between 3pm and 5pm.
On Thursday 30th May we will be on the Recreation Ground in Weston Rhyn between 11am and 2pm, again providing activities suitable for all ages – supervised in separate age/ability groups to ensure all children and young people can find and enjoy something to do that is ‘cool’ for them.
Finally, at the end of a busy week, our brilliant team of coaches will be at Ellesmere Rangers’ Football Ground between 11am and 2pm on Friday 31st, offering the full range of activity provision and healthy lunches again, before they then head to Gatacre Playing Fields in Oswestry to set up for the final session of the week between 3pm and 5pm.
