Latest TNS FC Foundation Update With Gill Jones

It’s hard to believe that we’re already over a month in to the autumn term, with the October school holidays now fast approaching.  Our brilliant schools team has once again hit the ground running, offering a great range of PE, multi-sports and football sessions in many local primary schools.   We look forward over the next few weeks to welcoming a number of school groups down to matches.

Football continues of course to be high on our agenda, and our recently appointed Community Football Co-Ordinator Tom Rowlands has been busy re-invigorating our Junior fun football programme.  Junior Saints runs every Monday evening between 5pm and 6pm, Mini Saints every Saturday morning between 9am and 10am, with a new Diddi Saints session for children aged 18 months to 4 years now running every Friday morning between 10am and 11am.

In addition, of course, our junior girls Wildcats sessions continue to run from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday evenings.  Do encourage your children or grandchildren to come along – the sessions are great fun, and really help children to develop their ball skills.

At the moment, we are also offering free taster fun football sessions on a Friday evening between 5pm and 6pm at The Venue, and on 24th October will be launching our first regular Pan-Disability football session for those aged 16+ – contact Tom at tom.rowlands@tnsfcfoundation.org.uk for further information.

Congratulations to TNS Ladies who have progressed to the next round of the FA Cup following their win last Sunday against Long Eaton United.  The girls and ladies section continues to grow, with additional age groups participating this year – to find out more about the girls section contact info@tnsfcfoundation.org.uk.

Our youth engagement work continues across the area – Gobowen, Whittington and Weston Rhyn junior youth activities continue to be well supported, and our new senior youth cafe in St Johns Church, Weston Rhyn will open its doors for the first time on Monday evening.  The Oswestry Social Inclusion Football League also continues on Sunday evenings between 5pm and 6pm on Oak Street Recreation Ground in Oswestry.

Finally, just a reminder that our regular school holiday activities will be running again throughout October half term in Gobowen, Weston Rhyn, St Martins, Ellesmere and Oswestry.  We will also be offering full day holiday activity clubs at The Flash Welshpool and at The Venue, in partnership with the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital.  For more information about any of these please contact info@tnsfcfoundation.org.uk
