The Mexborough-born wide-man began his career at Doncaster Rovers before moving to Yorkshire giants, Leeds United, for an undisclosed sum. While at Elland Road, Billy played in the FA Cup game against Sutton United.

Described as a ‘wonderkid’ on numerous occasions, since being released by Leeds, Billy attracted serious attention from the likes of Bournemouth AFC, Cardiff City, Leicester City, Mansfield Town and Reading, as his growing reputation attracted attention from scouts throughout the top football divisions in England.

Signing for The New Saints on deadline day in the January 2019 transfer window, Whitehouse made his debut coming off the bench a few days later, in a 5-0 victory against Newtown AFC in the JD Welsh Premier League.
