The New Saints of Oswestry Town is delighted to announce the loan signing of talented central defender, Ben Cabango, from Swansea City, until January 2019.
Born in Cardiff, the 18-year-old began the journey to professional football at Newport County, where he played in the U13s through to the U15s.
From there he moved along the south Wales coast, joining Swansea City, who were then in the English Premier League. From the Academy he signed on a scholarship deal.
Featuring a number of times last season for the U23s, Ben’s experience developed as he faced the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
His career to date with the Swans includes reaching the final of the Premier League Cup, finishing fourth in the U23s Premier League, fifth place in the U18s League and reaching the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup.
On putting pen-to-paper with The New Saints, Ben expressed his personal delight: “It’s a top side and when I knew that the club wanted me, that was a positive sign. Being involved in the Champions League will be a new experience. I can’t wait to get started”.
Manager, Scott Ruscoe, shared his thoughts: “Ben will join us on a loan deal from Swansea. We are fortunate to have a good relationship with the club which has allowed us to take such a young promising player. It will help Ben’s development, gaining experience in a European competition but also in the JD Welsh Premier league”.
