Following on from the recent club announcement that Simon Spender’s playing days at Park Hall had come to an end, we chatted with the legendary right-back about his career on the pitch.

Sitting in the stand behind the goal, we also talked about the present and the transition that he’s made from player to coach.

With a career that has taken in Barrow AFC, Wrexham AFC and an international pathway through to the Wales U-21s, there was plenty to talk about, as Spender shared memories with us.

Although the door closes on one part of his football journey, another one opens as he steps up to a full-time position with his TNS Academy and U-19s coaching role.

Everyone at The New Saints thanks Simon for the immense contribution that he has made to the club’s success over the years and wishes him all the very best for the future.
