After back-to-back postponed games, it’s hopefully a case of ‘third time lucky’ for The New Saints, as we travel to Flintshire on Friday (December 23) to take on Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Although Neil Gibson’s side is in action tonight (Tuesday) against Aberystwyth Town, whatever happens in that game, Friday will still be a second versus first encounter.

The JD Cymru Premier MD19 fixture marks the halfway stage of the league season for The New Saints, with the side still unbeaten.

Not only leading the way at the top as far as points is concerned, TNS have also scored more goals than anyone else (52) and conceded less (5). In addition, at the time of writing, the goal difference of 47 is greater than that of all the other clubs with a plus figure combined (39).

Having already met twice this season in all competitions, Connah’s Quay edged The New Saints on penalties at Deeside Stadium in the Nathaniel MG Cup back in August.

Also in the same month, the JD Cymru Premier MD3 game at Park Hall ended 2-1 to the home team. Although Mike Wilde opened the scoring six minutes before the break, Declan McManus equalised shortly afterwards (42). With ten minutes to go, Jon Routledge (80) secured the three points for the league leaders.

This Friday’s match will see Connah’s Quay in all-red, while The New Saints will be in grey shirts and black shorts and socks. The goalkeepers will be in all-yellow and blue shirts and shorts with black socks respectively.

Bryn Markham-Jones is the appointed referee and he will be assisted by Lewiss Edwards and Johnathon Bebee-Bryant. John Jones is the fourth official and Lee Evans the referee observer.
