Saying farewell to 2022 in style
It was another solid performance from The New Saints, as the side left the old year behind in style.
The 8-0 victory saw six different names on the scoresheet with Ryan Brobbel’s hat-trick added to by Danny Davies, Ash Baker, Ben Clark, Danny Redmond and Jake Canavan.
You will be able to watch the goals via Sgorio’s highlights and, I’m sure you’ll agree, there were some tremendous strikes among them.
Ryan Brobbel’s hat-trick
One of the players that Craig Harrison brought to the club in his first spell at The New Saints, Ryan Brobbel consistently does the business on the pitch.
Today’s contribution, as far as goals were concerned, was a hat-trick for the Northern Ireland Under-21 international.
Finding the net in the 3rd, 15th and 34th minutes – with a Danny Davies goal after 18 minutes – it meant that with approximately one-third of the encounter gone, Brobbel had effectively put the game beyond Airbus UK Broughton’s reach.
Danny Redmond back
Following his dismissal in the recent game against Connah’s Quay Nomads, Danny Redmond’s red card was rightly rescinded upon appeal.
It was great to not only see him in the starting XI today but also leading the team out as captain.
To top off his excellent performance, he scored the seventh goal with a superb strike.
Young talent
In from the off, Billy Kirkman put in an excellent performance at left-back. Following the game, in his post-match interview, Craig Harrison praised the young defender.
Although not in the starting XI, coming off the bench in the second-half, Jake Canavan scored the final goal for The New Saints, wrapping up the scoring in the 66th minute.
If you watch TNS on a regular basis then you don’t need reminding of the exceptional talent that is coming through the ranks at Park Hall.
The lead at the top extends
Of course, it’s all about The New Saints winning but if your rivals can drop points then you won’t complain.
That was the case just along the Dee estuary, as second-placed Connah’s Quay Nomads drew 0-0 at Flint Town United.
It means that lead at the top of the JD Cymru Premier is now six points, plus Craig Harrison’s side has a game in hand.
