Our visit to south Wales last weekend was a successful one – with a JD Welsh Cup victory against Cwmbran Celtic – and we’re back there again this coming Saturday (February 11), when we play Cardiff Metropolitan University FC.

The MD23 fixture in the JD Cymru Premier is our first one in the second phase and brings back happy memories for The New Saints.

The previous visit to Cyncoed Campus, in September of last year, saw the league leaders register a 7-0 victory with an Adrian Cieslewicz hat-trick, a brace from Declan McManus and solo goals from Ryan Brobbel and Jordan Williams securing the three points.

A couple of months later and the return fixture at Park Hall was another impressive result, with McManus again finding the net twice as The New Saints won 4-0. Ben Clark and Gwion Dafydd scored the others.

Cardiff Met currently occupy fourth place in the JD Cymru Premier, although they are nineteen points behind Craig Harrison’s side in the table.

As far as goals are concerned, Cardiff Met have scored the lowest number in the top-six (29), while only Newtown (39) have conceded more than the Archers’ twenty-nine.

With recent form showing The New Saints as the only team to win their last five games, Cardiff Met’s four wins and one draw is also very impressive.

The home side will be wearing burgundy shirts and socks with blue shorts, while The New Saints will be in green and white hooped shirts, white shorts and socks.

The Archers’ goalkeepers will be in orange and black shirts, orange shorts and socks. The visiting ‘keepers will be wearing blue and green shirts, blue shorts and black socks.

Bryn Markham-Jones will referee the game and he will be assisted by Lewiss Edwards and Johnathon Bebee-Bryant. Ieuan Lewis is the appointed fourth official and Dean John the referee observer.
