The New Saints can confirm that Josh Daniels has departed the club and has joined NIFL Premiership side Glentoran.
Josh joined the Saints in June 2022 from Shrewsbury Town and went on to enjoy a highly successful spell at Park Hall. During his time in Oswestry he won three JD Cymru Premier titles, lifted the Welsh Cup on two occasions, and claimed two Nathaniel MG Cups.
He also played a key part in the squad that made history by qualifying for the UEFA Conference League league phase in the 2024/25 season.
Across all competitions, the versatile wide man made 119 appearances for the Saints, scoring 13 goals and providing 30 assists, becoming a favourite among fans with his consistent displays on both the wing and at full-back.
Chairman Mike Harris said: “Josh has been an outstanding servant to The New Saints and has played a significant role in some of the most successful seasons in our history. While we’re naturally sorry to see him leave, we fully understand his desire to move closer to home for family reasons and respect that decision.
“On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to thank Josh for his commitment and professionalism, and wish him and his family every success for the future.”
Head Coach Craig Harrison added: “Josh has been a huge part of the most successful period in the club’s history and was a key member of the squad that achieved our ground-breaking qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
“He’s a great lad and a top professional, and while we’re sorry to see him go, Josh made us aware a few months ago of his and his family’s desire to return to Ireland. With his wife due to give birth to their third child very soon, and without a support network around them over here, we fully understand and respect that decision.
“Some things are bigger than football, and Josh leaves with everyone at the club’s blessing. We wish him and his lovely family all the very best for the future.”
