The New Saints defeated Barry Town United 4-0 at Park Hall to record a 30th consecutive JD Cymru Premier victory.

A brace from Jordan Williams, as well as goals from Adam Wilson and Ben Clark, secured the points for Craig Harrison’s side, who climbed to fourth in the table as a result.

The Saints are now just two points behind leaders Penybont, although the defending champions still have two games in hand.

Despite The Saints enjoying plenty of possession in the early stages, the first chance went the way of the visitors with 13 minutes on the clock.

After creating space on the edge of the penalty area, Ollie Hulbert tried his luck, but his effort was narrowly wide of Connor Roberts’ left post.

Less than 60 seconds later, Barry goalkeeper, Luc Rees, was called into action, as he pulled off a superb one-handed save to deny a long-range strike from Adam Wilson.

With 25 minutes on the clock, however, The Saints did make the breakthrough following a fast-counter attack.

Despite an initial effort from Leo Smith being saved by the goalkeeper, Jordan Williams was in the right place to stroke the rebound into the empty net to give his side the lead.

Two minutes before the break, Craig Harrison’s side could’ve added a second, but Rees pulled off a good save from Adam Wilson’s back post header.

The Linnets started the second-half brightly, and in the 51st minute, they thought they’d scored an equaliser though Keenan Patten.

Despite connecting with Hulbert’s cross and turning the ball home, the Barry number 10 looked to his right to see the assistant referee’s flag raised.

And just two minutes later, The Saints doubled their advantage, as Adam Wilson smashed the ball home at the back post following an inviting cross by Danny Redmond.

Almost immediately after, Rory Holden was causing problems, and went close to adding a third goal after spinning on the edge of the box.

A TNS third eventually did arrive in the 84th minute though, when substitute, Ben Clark, stroked the ball home from the edge of the penalty area after Jordan Williams’ initial effort was blocked.

Just like that, The Saints were celebrating again, as seconds later, Williams followed in another effort from Clark to make the score 4-0 and grab a second of the afternoon.

The two late goals added further shine to another professional performance, as a result of which, The New Saints recorded a 30th consecutive JD Cymru Premier victory.

It’s a break from league action for Harrison’s side on Tuesday, as they head to Airbus UK Broughton to continue their defence of the Nathaniel MG Cup. Kick-off at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium is scheduled for 7:45pm.
